Special Kimchi making event at Kiheung
In end of every year, Kiheung opens a special event for employees and their families, that is Kimchi-making event, called “Kim-Jang”. As most people know, kimchi is necessary food to almost every Korean meal, so people makes a lot of kimchi that they can eat for whole year in a particular season, especially on November or December. This is an old custom of Korean originated from long time ago, and it became one of special family gatherings in Korea.
This year, Kiheung opened “Kim-Jang” event in order to keep its tradition, and 10 employees and their families participated in the event. Last year, the event held with the title of “Delicious kimchi from Managers”, and this year, the title is “Fresh kimchi from freshmen”, Billy Kim, manager of general affairs team, said.
Kim-Jang is operated for two days. In first day, the best qualified ingredients; Korean cabbages, radish, garlic, red pepper and other sources, were delivered. In second day, participants come together to kitchen and did Kim-Jang from trimming the ingredients to mixing kimchi of 400kg.
In every step of Kim-Jang, it was proceeded with employees’ efforts from their heart, finally each kimchi began stacked. Surprisingly, young employees showed skilled work, and wrapped up the event.
Meanwhile, steamed pork, ddeock(rice cake), and Macgulli(Korean rice liquor) were plated on tables with fresh kimchi, all employee shared dishes and had a good time.
Through the Kim-Jang event, employees were grateful for the food, and it was also a meaningful time to wish for a good year and next year.
